Architecture Disciplines

Scope, collaboration and contributions of architecture disciplines

Professional architecture disciplines describe areas of responsibility and expertise. They are distinct from the six VDAF framework disciplines.

Disciplines and scope

Enterprise, Business, Information & Data, Application, Solution, Integration, Technology and Security Architecture are examples. Select the disciplines relevant to the organisation.

Collaboration

Define interfaces, handovers and dependencies across disciplines, including decision-making and review participation.

Expected contributions

Define competencies, responsibilities and expected architecture deliverables for each discipline.

Tailoring

One person may fulfil multiple disciplines. The arrangement should reflect organisational scale and maturity.

Reusable components

Discipline catalogue, scope descriptions, competency profiles and collaboration agreements.
